Miren Alcantra
Miren Neyra Alcántara is an international student from Mexico City. After not being able to attend school for seven years since she was eleven, she independently put herself through community college. She recently graduated from Haverhill Community College (HHC) this past spring of 2022 with an AA in Latinx Studies. During her time at HCC Miren became an intern at the Pioneer Valley Workers Center, and shortly after became promoted to Senior Organizer-In-Training. This promotion lined up with Miren's passions for solving food insecurity, body autonomy, reproductive and immigrant justice. In her work as Senior OIT, Miren has developed and implemented digital organizing strategies, spearheaded outreach efforts to student groups, handled immigration case referrals, and has taken on several key roles in worker organizing campaigns. Miren will be transferring to Smith College where she hopes to double major in Latin American & Latino/a Studies and Women & Gender Studies.
